The total solar eclipse of 2024
is anticipated to be one of the most significant astronomical events of the year. On April 8, 2024, the path of totality will cross North America, stretching from Mexico, through the United States, and into Canada. This rare event will offer viewers within the path the opportunity to witness the moon completely blocking out the sun, turning day into twilight for a few precious minutes. Cities such as Dallas, Texas; Indianapolis, Indiana; and Buffalo, New York, will experience totality. It's sure to be a spectacular sight for all who are able to witness it!
The 2024 total solar eclipse, often referred to as the Great North American Eclipse, will be visible across parts of North America. Here are some of the areas where the eclipse will be visible:
Mexico: The path of totality will first touch land in Mexico, passing through the states of Durango, Coahuila, Zacatecas, San Luis Potosí, Nuevo León, and Tamaulipas.
United States: The path of totality will then cross into the United States, traversing through several states from Texas to Maine. Some of the states in the path include Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Vermont, and Maine.
Canada: While not in the path of totality, parts of Canada, particularly in the eastern provinces, will experience a partial solar eclipse.
